About Therapy for Black Girls

Therapy for Black Girls (TBG) is more than a platform — it’s a cultural force. Founded by Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, TBG is a trailblazing digital mental health community that has redefined what it means to prioritize the well-being of Black women and girls. Through our award-winning and wildly popular podcast, expansive therapist directory, and engaging digital content, we’ve built a safe, affirming space for over a million community members to access support, destigmatize mental health care, and feel seen. We are a powerhouse brand grounded in a vision to see Black women thriving at every stage of life — and our work is far from finished.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a dynamic, heart-centered Senior Graphic Designer to take the lead in shaping the visual future of Therapy for Black Girls. This role blends strategic brand leadership with hands-on execution, and is ideal for a multi-disciplinary designer who thrives in creative collaboration, honors deadlines with grace, and is deeply passionate about supporting and uplifting Black women. You’ll expand and evolve the vibrant visual language TBG is known for, while also managing projects that span across departments — from digital campaigns and social storytelling to event branding and sales materials.

You’ll report to our Creative Director (currently transitioning out of day-to-day design leadership), while managing our junior designer and collaborating closely with our cross-functional teams. We’re seeking someone who brings both vision and follow-through — a creative powerhouse who can inspire and deliver.

Key Responsibilities

1. Brand Leadership & Design Strategy

  • Guide the evolution of the Therapy for Black Girls visual identity, ensuring brand cohesion across platforms and materials.

  • Translate high-level campaign concepts into visually compelling assets that resonate with our audience and mission.

  • Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders on cross-functional projects (Special Projects, Events, Partnerships, and Sales).

2. Design Execution & Production

  • Create high-quality digital and print assets including social media graphics, email templates, event collateral, sales decks, web elements, and video overlays.

  • Repurpose podcast episodes, video content, and blog posts into engaging visual formats.

  • Maintain and improve design systems and templates for efficiency and scalability.

3. Creative Project Management & Team Collaboration

  • Manage timelines, priorities, and workflows across concurrent projects with autonomy and clarity.

  • Offer mentorship and creative direction to junior team members.

  • Communicate proactively with collaborators, contributing ideas while navigating feedback with professionalism and purpose.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5–6 years of professional graphic design experience, ideally within a content-driven brand, media company, or agency setting.

  • Proficiency in:

    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)

    • Figma, Canva, CapCut

    • Web platforms like WordPress and Squarespace

    • Basic HTML/CSS skills a plus

  • Deep knowledge of color theory, typography, layout design, and responsive design best practices.

  • A refined portfolio showcasing original concepts and execution that align with Black women-centered storytelling and community building.

  • A self-starter mindset with strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.

  • Experience providing thoughtful guidance and support to junior team members while effectively managing their growth and contributions.

  • Experience managing creative projects from concept to launch, with confidence in presenting and iterating ideas.

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a remote, flexible, culture-forward environment.

  • Aligned with the mission and values of Therapy for Black Girls, and eager to design from a place of cultural fluency, joy, and care.

Work Culture & Values

  • Collaborate boldly — Titles define roles, not impact. We get things done together.

  • Lead with heart — Our work is mission-driven and grounded in care for each other and our community.

  • Work with intention — We prioritize clarity over chaos, and progress over perfection.

  • Stay culturally tapped in — We’re fluent in Black girl culture and current conversations.

  • Celebrate joy — Humor, connection, and affirmation are key ingredients in how we work and why we show up.

Compensation & Job Details

  • Location: Remote (must reside in GA, VA, FL, NY, or TX)

  • Employment Type: Part-Time, W-2 (20 hrs/week)

  • Compensation: $45/hour

  • Start Date: July 7, 2025 (with transitional support through September)
